Field Notes:
This image was from my first trip to Lake O’Hara in Yoho National park. I woke up early to get to the location I scouted days before. I wanted to capture the iconic first bit of golden light on the mountain tops. I waited and waited finally realizing that if I were to create something unique I had to keep looking. I left my gear on the trail. At 4am there is no one around to mess with your equipment. I hiked around and about 200m down the trail I saw what I had been looking for. Something to write home about. I saw the reflection of the mountain tops in the background and what seemed to be a mini island oasis in the foreground. I quickly hiked back to grab my gear. I came back just in time to capture this moment. It lasted only for a few seconds and then it was gone. I was grateful to be able to capture a mini part of Island Life.
