Field Notes:
This is an image of St. Mary Lake just past the Rising Sun campsite in Glacier National Park. The sun is just seconds away from revealing itself over the mountain horizon. When George Harrison wrote “Here Comes the Sun” in 1969 he was in a very tough time of his life. The famous Beatles song is about getting away from all the turmoil, rigidity and depression which comes from society and winters in England. When spring comes, so does the sun. We think of moments in our lives that we want to change. If the exact combination of experiences did not occur, if the bad didn’t come with the good then you would cease being you. If there was no bad, no evil, no winters, no darkness we wouldn’t know what good, kindness, springtime and light would feel like. Here Comes the Sun.
